Farmer

Living Rural is a farm supply and feed store located in Wellington. We sell farm supplies, animal feed and animal care products from a shop in the heart of Pāuatahanui and cater to the many lifestyle blocks and rural businesses in the region.

We are only 20-30 minutes away from most semi-rural areas around Wellington, Hutt Valley and Kapiti. We also do local delivery for those that don’t want to travel to the shop to buy their regular supplies.

We’re proud to be a cherished part of the Pāuatahanui community, and we’re excited to extend our trusted service to other rural communities across the region. Whether you’re from Ohariu Valley, Mangaroa, Whitemans Valley, or as far up as Otaki, we can help with a reliable range of farm and animal supplies with expert support tailored to your needs. Please come and see us for a chat or place an order online — we’ll sort you out.

Did we mention that our pet supplies have more of a ‘rural’ pricing model, catering to the many townies pet owners as well? You don’t have to spend $40 on a small 6kg box of hay for your rabbits when you could get a sack of it for $9, or an entire 20kg bale for $21.50!

We are located next to one of the best cafes in Wellington… Groundup Cafe. Situated in Pāuatahanui Village, you can make a day of it by popping next door for an amazing coffee, club sandwich, burger or sausage roll. Then once your tummy is full you could go for a wander around the inlet or the Pāuatahanui Wildlife Reserve to do some bird and wildlife watching.

If you are looking for a more adventurous walk or mountain bike ride then you could head a few kms up the road to Battle Hill Farm Forest Park. There are also some big beautiful native eels there that love being fed sardines, but watch your fingers!
