Streamlined Online Ordering: Overcoming Common Issues

As the utilisation of online ordering is steadily increasing on our website (it’s up 130% year to date on last year!), we need to streamline the process a little to ensure that we remain as efficient and error free as possible. People are loving having their items just turn up on their doorsteps or at their stables – and the feedback has been fantastic. So thanks for your support!

Delivery Method

People have been forgetting to select the correct delivery method lately… probably because they are placing an order regularly and it is something they just assume will happen the same way this time too. But, as the default option was ‘Self pickup’ we have had orders sitting around wondering “When the customer is going to turn up to pick it up?”… all the while the customer was thinking “Why hasn’t my order been delivered yet?”. It’s really not the best look for either of us to be fair, so we have made a change to the checkout screen to make sure this mistake can’t be made.

Now if you forget to choose a shipping method when you submit the order it will warn you and jump you back to the top of the form:

Delivery Address

If you want the order to be delivered to a different address than your home/billing address, then please ensure that you tick the box for Deliver to a different address?

Please make sure you enter an accurate address, including Company Name if it is at a business or stables, so that an inexperienced delivery driver has a chance of getting it right. And feel free to add a note if the location is unusual… there are some pretty funky shed locations out there!

This is so that when we have other team members stepping in to assist with local deliveries they don’t deliver your order to the wrong location.

This caused a great deal of stress, confusion and anxiety during Horse of the Year when both the bosses were away for a few days and the rest of the team had to try and figure out where the orders were supposed to be going! 😟

Create an account

If you are placing orders regularly and getting sick of entering the same details every time, you can tick the Create an account? checkbox on checkout. This will allow you to register an account that will store the following details:

  • Name
  • Address
  • Phone number
  • Email address

Note: it will not store your credit card details on our site/server. If you choose to save your card details for next time, these details will be stored securely on the Eway payment gateway.

When you go to create your next order you can login with your account and everything will magically get filled in for you, saving lots of typing!

We highly recommend that you use your Facebook or Google/Gmail account to register/login where you can. We don’t really want to be storing passwords on our site (even though they are stored in a hashed form and not plain text) if we can avoid it… so please make use of this federated login option – where your credentials are stored securely by the most advanced companies on the Internet!

We’d love to hear from you!

We’d like to think that we’re awesome at what we do and have a fantastic bunch of customers that love us dearly… and by all accounts, we do! But here’s the funny thing — our Google reviews have been a little quiet lately.

Why? Well, we’d like to believe it’s because we’re doing such a great job that no one feels the need to say anything! No hiccups, no drama, just the seamless service and quality products you expect.

But here’s the thing: reviews help new customers find us and let us know we’re continuing to meet your expectations. So, if you’ve had a great experience with Living Rural, we’d be thrilled if you could take a moment to leave us a review on Google.

Your feedback not only makes our day but also helps others discover what makes Living Rural special.

Thank you for being part of our community and for your continued support — we couldn’t do this without you!

We’re Hiring!

We're Hiring

Living Rural is a business based in the heart of Pauatahanui Village which was established in February 2023. We specialise in farm supplies, animal feed and rural needs.

Our growth over the past 18 months has exceeded our expectations. We find ourselves in the position of needing to start the search for another team member to join the fun, friendly Living Rural team to help us continue to deliver the very best in customer care/service, advice, and knowledge in our increasingly busy environment.

We are searching for someone with the following availability, however some flexibility does exist with start and finish times, as does the possibility for a “job share” scenario. Whilst Saturday is a core day, we can be flexible some weekends.

  • Monday 8.30-3.30
  • Thursday – 8.30-5.30
  • Friday – 8.30-5.00
  • Saturday – 8.30-4.00

This is a very physical job. On any given day we might receive 2-12 ton (2-12 pallets) of feed and products. The successful candidate must be capable of lifting 20kg on a fairly constant basis throughout the day, with some days busier than others in this area.

We are looking for someone who is mature, reliable, honest and able to be self motivated and work unsupervised. Ideally you will have either farm or equine experience and knowledge.

We are a close knit team with a fantastic relaxed vibe. A sense of humour is a must! The position would be available for immediate start, or happy to negotiate alternate start date based on your current commitments.

If you feel that you would like to be part of our awesome team, and work for a business that is growing and progressing, please send us your CV to info@livingrural.nz or you can also drop it into the store in person.
